In preliminary proceedings, the Administrative Court has ruled that Görlitzer Park must remain open at night for the time being, thus granting a lawsuit filed by the initiative 'Görli zaunfrei'.

Since the beginning of March, the park in Berlin-Kreuzberg had been closed every evening at 10:00 PM. The Senate had decided on the measure in 2023 to curb drug dealing and other criminal activity, which is known nationwide. Sixteen entrance gates were erected for the closure.

Five residents and members of the 'Görli zaunfrei' alliance filed a lawsuit in mid-March against the general decree issued in February. They argue that the Senate is disproportionately infringing on the rights and freedoms of residents and park users. Furthermore, the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection, and the Environment is not responsible for such an intervention in the district's green space.
