The Formula 1 team Alpine has lodged a protest against the official race result following the Monaco Grand Prix, citing penalties handed out to several drivers for alleged speeding in the pit lane.
Pierre Gasly had finished the race in Monte Carlo in third place but was demoted to seventh as a result of a time penalty. The subsequent reshuffle moved Isack Hadjar of Red Bull up onto the podium. The FIA had already declared the result official but must now rule on Alpine's protest.
According to the team, the time penalties did not affect only Alpine but several race teams. Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes driver George Russell, McLaren driver Oscar Piastri, and Alpine's second driver Franco Colapinto also received time penalties for alleged exceeding of the pit lane speed limit. The permitted top speed in the Monte Carlo pit lane is 60 km/h.
