College Station, Texas, 07 June 2026

Argentina defeated Honduras 2:0 (1:0) in its penultimate World Cup warm-up match in College Station in the US state of Texas, drawing confidence one week before the start of the tournament.

The goals for the reigning world champions were scored by Lautaro Martínez of Inter Milan in the 37th minute via a penalty kick and Giuliano Simeone of Atlético Madrid in the 54th minute. The penalty had been awarded following a controversial refereeing decision against Honduras. In front of 82,000 spectators at Kyle Field Stadium, the home of the Texas A&M University football team, the Argentinians controlled the game for long stretches and allowed very little defensively.
