Berlin, 07 June 2026
Around 30,000 cyclists took part in the 50th edition of the Sternfahrt, the annual star ride organized by the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrradclub (ADFC), rolling into central Berlin on Sunday from about 20 routes.
Police and the organizers gave matching estimates of approximately 30,000 participants on Sunday afternoon. "Diese Zahl nannten Polizei und Veranstalter übereinstimmend am Sonntagnachmittag," the report said. The figure is more than double last year's turnout of 13,500, according to police figures cited in the coverage.
The ride was registered as a demonstration, which is why cyclists were temporarily allowed to use streets and motorway sections normally closed to them. "Die Sternfahrt wird alljährlich als Demonstration angemeldet, weswegen die Radfahrer Straßen und auch Autobahnabschnitte wie die Avus (A115) oder die A100 zeitweise für sich haben," rbb24 Inforadio reported. The A100 was closed between Dreieck Neukölln and Spandauer Damm, and the A115 (Avus) between Kreuz Zehlendorf and Dreieck Funkturm, roughly between 12:00 and 14:30. The Straße des 17. Juni and Ebertstraße were closed for the entire day.
