Reasoning: A signal of austerity in difficult times

The move is justified by the economic situation: "um in finanziell und wirtschaftlich schwierigen Zeiten ein Sparsignal an die Bevölkerung zu senden", the factions say. Members of parliament are thereby voluntarily foregoing an increase to which they would have been automatically entitled under the existing indexation.
