The leading business associations of the German economy see the meeting with the heads of the coalition and the trade unions on Wednesday at the Chancellery as an opportunity for a joint reform course, while DGB chairwoman Yasmin Fahimi sharply criticized the federal government's plans.
Demands of the Business Community
In a joint statement, the Confederation of German Employers' Associations (BDA), the Federation of German Industries (BDI), the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH), and the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) emphasized that the summit meeting on Wednesday at the Federal Chancellery in Berlin should be used to advance reform plans. In view of the weakness phase of the German economy, the associations are pushing for a cap on social contributions, tax cuts, less bureaucracy, and more flexible working hours.
