Die Toten Hosen released their final album, 'Trink aus, wir müssen gehen!', on Friday, a 16-track farewell that blends punk, rock, and balladry with a companion bonus album of 25 cover songs.
The album's title, which translates to 'Drink up, we have to go!', signals the band's goodbye from the very first line. According to a WDR feature, the record is both a return to a rawer sound and a reflective capstone to a career spanning more than four decades.
Fans of the band's early years will notice a grittier edge compared to their 2017 release 'Laune der Natur'. The record lacks an Oktoberfest-sized anthem like 'Tage wie diese', forcing the Wiesn to rely on the back catalogue, as noted in the ARD documentary by Eric Friedler.
