The association Die Familienunternehmer has appealed to lawmakers from the Union and SPD to let the Bundestag's summer break, which begins on July 10, fall through and instead debate and decide on the planned reforms during this period.

Association's Demand

In the letter, which is available to several media outlets, it is stated that the parliamentary recess should be dropped in favor of the reform debates. The summer break cannot be justified in view of the upcoming projects, the association argues. Specifically, Die Familienunternehmer demands that the coalition factions set the course for the planned reforms before the break — otherwise, the Bundestag would have to meet during the summer months as well.
