A 25-year-old man died in hospital on Friday from the consequences of a serious accident on the "Twister" water slide at the Miramar leisure pool in Weinheim (Rhein-Neckar district).
The accident occurred late on Whit Saturday, May 23. According to the operators and the Mannheim public prosecutor's office, four men aged approximately 25 to 30, who knew each other and were visiting the pool together, slid down the approximately 150-meter-long slide simultaneously, contrary to the rules of use.
The safety regulations for the slide, classified as "difficult," stipulate that only one person may slide at a time and sufficient distance must be maintained. The start is regulated by a traffic light system, which only turns green when the previous slider has passed the exit and crossed a light barrier.
