Fatal slide accident at Miramar: Cause of death of 25-year-old still unclear

Course of the Accident

According to previous findings, the 25-year-old collided with several people on the slide and lost consciousness in the process. He later died in the hospital. The accident occurred on Whit Saturday at around 9:00 p.m. at the leisure pool in Weinheim in the Rhein-Neckar district.

The four men, aged between 25 and 30, knew each other according to police and the public prosecutor's office and visited Miramar together. The Miramar leisure pool confirmed that the men had violated the usage and safety rules of the slide.

Violations of Safety Rules

The public prosecutor's office is now investigating the three other men from the group on suspicion of negligent manslaughter. A proceeding had already been initiated due to the fatal accident at Miramar. Exactly how the collision occurred remains the subject of the ongoing investigations.

The Miramar leisure pool is a well-known adventure pool in Weinheim on the state border with Hesse and regularly attracts numerous visitors. Slide accidents in swimming pools are overall rare, but regularly raise questions about compliance with safety rules and supervision by staff.
