Federal Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder (CDU) strongly advocated for the swift expansion of the Central Germany Connection between Weimar and Gößnitz during a meeting with the Thuringian state government in Berlin, while simultaneously acknowledging that the financing of the project has not yet been definitively secured.

Schnieder spoke on Tuesday after the meeting with the Thuringian state government in Berlin. He described the Central Germany Connection as one of the most important rail projects, also beyond Thuringia, and spoke out in favor of rapid implementation. At the same time, the minister admitted that at the time of the meeting, there was no good news regarding the financing question.
