FIFA has announced that fans will not be allowed to bring reusable water bottles into stadiums at the 2026 Football World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, while temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius are expected.

FIFA justified the move with security concerns. A statement from the association reads: "To avoid misunderstandings: reusable water bottles are not permitted to be brought into the stadium." Previously, the world governing body had announced that empty, transparent, and reusable plastic bottles with a capacity of up to one liter should be allowed in the arenas. Ticket holders have reportedly already been informed about the change in the water bottle regulations.
