The election for the presidency of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) is now a two-person race: On Thursday at the FIS Congress in Belgrade, only Johan Eliasch and Alexander Ospelt will therefore be running.

After the withdrawal of several candidates, the field for the FIS presidential election has shrunk to two. The Briton Victoria Gosling withdrew her candidacy at the beginning of the week, as reported from the federation's inner circle. The race to succeed — or confirm — the incumbent president is thus now definitively a decision between the officeholder and his challenger from Liechtenstein.

At the end of May, the Dane Anna Harboe Falkenberg and Dexter Paine from the USA had already withdrawn their candidacies. Three bids thus dropped out of the originally broader slate of candidates within just a few weeks. The British federation president had been nominated by the British federation and was regarded as a prominent critic of the federation's previous leadership.
