Paris, 30 May 2026

Digital ministers from the Group of Seven (G7) nations concluded a meeting in Paris on Friday by agreeing on a set of common principles aimed at enhancing the protection of minors on the internet.

The French Secretary of State for Digital Affairs, Anne Le Hénanff, stated that the protection of minors online is now "an international priority." The agreed principles, which include measures for age verification and combating illegal content, are designed to allow national authorities to be "far more demanding" towards digital platforms, leaving them "no choice but to change their working methods."

The discussions served as preparation for the G7 leaders' summit scheduled for June in the French town of Evian. The meeting brought together representatives from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
