Opening with Swiss Film

At the opening in the Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Gera (KuK), in addition to the film crew, the Thuringian Minister-President Mario Voigt and Gera's Lord Mayor Kurt Dannenberg were also in attendance. The ceremonial speeches and the screening marked the kick-off of a multi-day programme that, according to the organisers, has set a new record this year with 250 submissions.

According to the festival, the opening film "Plitsch Platsch Forever!" tells a summer story about friendship, change, and a closed swimming pool. The Swiss production was screened in Gera as a premiere and formed the start of a programme aimed at children and families. Until 13 June, around 100 film, media, and professional events are on the schedule in Erfurt and Gera.
