Darmstadt, June 02, 2026
Minister President Boris Rhein (CDU) and Minister of Economic Affairs Kaweh Mansoori (SPD) presented a mid-term review of the Hessian state government on Tuesday, following a cabinet retreat in Darmstadt, and announced further investments.
The 78-page brochure is titled "Mid-Term. Hesse Leads" and was presented after a cabinet meeting at Kranichstein Hunting Lodge in Darmstadt. The black-red coalition of CDU and SPD thus drew an interim conclusion on the mid-term of their legislative period earlier than the actual Hessian Constitution Day on July 18, 2026. Both Rhein and Mansoori spoke of a climate of mutual trust between the two partners.
Rhein rated his government's work with the school grade of 2 ("good"). He highlighted the "Hessenplan" as a central achievement, which is financed with funds from the federal government's debt-financed special infrastructure fund. According to the available figures, 7.4 billion euros of the approximately ten billion euro investment plan come from the federal program. "We have delivered – and that from day one," Rhein emphasized.
