Following a bloody knife attack in Belfast with a seriously injured victim, the Northern Irish police have arrested a man aged between 30 and 40 on suspicion of attempted murder, while Prime Minister Keir Starmer sharply condemned the act and politicians warned of unrest.

The attack occurred on Monday evening in Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. According to the Northern Irish police, a man aged between 40 and 50 was taken to a hospital with serious injuries to his face, eyes, and back. A video circulating on the internet shows an attacker with a knife stabbing a man covered in blood while he sits on a street, before several men intervene.

Police arrested a man aged between 30 and 40, who according to investigators originates from Sudan. The suspect is being accused of attempted murder, according to the statement. There is no evidence of a terrorist background according to the current state of the investigations, the police added. The officers simultaneously appealed to the public not to further share the bloody video of the attack.
