Around 6,000 people took part on Sunday in a white march in Fleurance, in southwestern France, in tribute to Lyhanna, an 11-year-old girl whose body was found six days after her disappearance in a grain silo, as the French justice system faces scrutiny over failures in monitoring the suspect.
The procession, marked by gravity, brought together parents, elected officials and members of the public who marched in silence to honour the memory of the young victim. Lyhanna's parents read a letter during the march, notably uttering the words « Pardon pour ce que tu as vécu ». Le Parisien/Aujourd'hui en France headlined the event: « Une marche blanche de plus. L'électrochoc aura-t-il lieu ? », while La Dépêche du Midi spoke of « Un émouvant adieu ».
