Linstow, June 06, 2026
Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) has announced a top-level meeting of the coalition, trade unions, and business associations for next Wednesday to discuss social reforms and defended the controversial reform plans of Health Minister Nina Warken (CDU).
Speaking at the CDU state party conference in Linstow, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, on Saturday, Merz said he had asked the participants in advance to propose what they wanted to set in motion together. The federal government would then deliberate and was determined to implement the necessary reforms. A central concern was to explore what could be achieved together.
