NATO fighter jets have shot down a drone over the Baltic EU and NATO member state of Latvia after it entered the country's airspace, according to the Latvian military. Residents of several eastern regions had previously been urged to stay indoors; the air alarm was lifted after the interception.
Fighter jets of the Western military alliance NATO shot down a drone over the Baltic EU and NATO country of Latvia on Monday after it had entered the country's airspace, according to the Latvian military.
The armed forces of the country, which borders Russia and Belarus, said NATO fighter jets had shot down a drone over Latvia that had entered the airspace of the Baltic EU and NATO member state. Prior to that, residents of the eastern regions bordering Russia and Belarus had been asked to remain indoors.
A temporarily declared air alarm was lifted. The alarm was lifted after the drone was shot down, the Latvian military said. In Latvia, authorities had previously informed residents of several regions in the east of the country about a possible threat to the airspace.
