Graz, 10 June 2026
On the first anniversary of the shooting at BORG Dreierschützengasse in Graz, students, teachers, and relatives commemorated the eleven students and the teacher killed in a deliberately restrained setting on 10 June 2026.
A Quiet Commemoration
The memorial ceremony at the school began on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. and was held without the public. Principal Liane Strohmaier explained that the students had been asked how they wanted to mark the anniversary: „Wir haben die Schülerinnen und Schüler befragt, was sie möchten. Mehr als die Hälfte wollte das Gedenken innerhalb der Schule lassen.“ Together with Graz Mayor Elke Kahr, the school leadership thus set a deliberately quiet tone, in contrast to the large memorial services held immediately after the attack at the Hauptplatz and in the Graz Cathedral.
