Berlin, 09 June 2026
Police in Germany registered a total of 85,837 crimes with a political background in 2025, representing an increase of nearly two percent compared to the previous year.
Right-Wing Violence Remains Dominant
Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) presented the police statistics on politically motivated crimes for 2025 in Berlin on Tuesday. In doing so, he promised a joint "Sicherheitsoffensive von Bund und Ländern". The figure of 85,837 offenses is therefore nearly two percent above the previous year's figure, when police had already recorded more than 84,000 politically motivated crimes – more than ever before.
Back in 2024, police had attributed roughly every second politically motivated crime to the right-wing spectrum. The Federal Ministry of the Interior was then still led by Nancy Faeser (SPD). In the current survey as well, the largest share of politically motivated violent crimes continues to be attributed to perpetrators assigned to the right-wing spectrum.
