Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt and BKA President Holger Münch presented the statistics on politically motivated crimes for the year 2025 in Berlin on Tuesday, which reached a new record high with 85,837 registered cases.
Record High in Politically Motivated Crimes
According to the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) and the Federal Ministry of the Interior, 85,867 politically motivated crimes were recorded last year. This represents an increase of almost two percent compared to the previous year. The previous record figure was thus exceeded.
Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) spoke of a worrying development at the presentation of the annual report in Berlin. The number of left-wing extremist-motivated crimes rose by 35.3 percent to 13,490 cases. The BKA registered an increase of almost 43 percent in left-wing extremist violent offenses.
