Hamburg, June 7, 2026

Norwegian Ironman world champion Solveig Løvseth won the Ironman European Championship in Hamburg on Sunday, while 39-year-old Laura Philipp of Heidelberg, the defending champion, finished second.

Course and winning time

The race – 3.8 kilometers of swimming in the Alster, 180 kilometers of cycling, and a concluding marathon – finished at Hamburg's Rathausmarkt. Løvseth crossed the line after 8:11:11 hours, securing the European title. Denmark's Katrine Christensen took third place.

Philipp had started as favorite and defending champion, having already won Ironman Hamburg in 2022 and 2025. A third consecutive victory and her fourth European title overall were the goals. None of it came to pass: after 3.8 kilometers of swimming, 180 kilometers on the bike, and the closing marathon run, the Heidelberg athlete had to concede defeat only to world champion Solveig Løvseth.
