Keir Starmer has issued an ultimatum to tech companies at London Tech Week, calling on them to take measures to ensure children can no longer exchange nude images via smartphones, and announced statutory penalties in the event of non-compliance.
Speaking at London Tech Week, Starmer addressed, according to the British news agency PA, a problem that had been tolerated for too long. "One problem is the ability for children to send and receive nude images on smartphones," Starmer said on Monday in London. For too long, he said, it had been explained that "this was simply the price of modern technology, nothing could be done about it, the government was powerless, and parents had to accept it." The Prime Minister firmly rejects this stance.
