Legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg has drawn a clear line against artificial intelligence in cinema, stating he does not use AI tools even for research and calling on Hollywood to resist the technology's encroachment on human creativity.
In an interview with the German magazine Stern published this week, the 79-year-old director of 'Schindler's List' and 'Saving Private Ryan' acknowledged that AI may have a place in medicine and scientific research, but firmly excluded it from his own creative workflow.
'There is a place for AI in medicine and in research. But I don't even use AI as a tool for research,' Spielberg told Stern.
The Oscar winner was unequivocal about the role of artificial intelligence in his movies. 'In my film there are no AI-generated special effects,' he said, distancing his work from a growing industry trend toward machine-generated imagery.
