Following a large-scale power outage in Reutlingen, police are investigating on suspicion of arson at the Reutlingen-West substation.
Scale of the Power Outage
The Reutlingen-West substation had been offline since 1:45 a.m. according to information from Netze BW. A spokesperson for Netze BW stated that there are indications of arson at a substation. "Three points of ignition had been found, and the fence and grounds in front of the facility had also been damaged," he said.
According to the information, the two energy companies Netze BW and Fairnetz GmbH share the substation. Five and a half hours after the outage, about half of the approximately 20,000 affected Fairnetz GmbH customers were back online. At the time of the report, around 10,000 customers remained without power.
