The Berlin-based trust center Themis has registered an increase in physical sexual assaults in the culture and media industry in the first quarter of 2026 and is calling for an end to the culture of silence.
The trust center Themis, which has served in Germany as a point of contact for victims of sexualized violence in the culture and media industry since May 2018, has presented its current counseling figures. According to these, 20 people turned to the institution in the first three months of the current year because of physical assaults. A further 22 initial contacts concerned verbal, non-verbal, or digital harassment. Overall, the seven-member team led by the executive board member Maren Lansink conducted 184 counseling sessions during this period, including 105 initial consultations.
