President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday imposing stricter nationwide regulations on mail-in voting, a move he has repeatedly linked to election fraud despite a lack of evidence.
The order mandates that mail ballots will only be sent to voters already on state-approved voter lists and requires the creation of nationwide registries of eligible citizens. Voting envelopes must also include unique tracking barcodes. Trump has previously asserted, *dass diese in den USA beliebte Form der Stimmabgabe für Wahlbetrug verantwortlich sei* ("that this popular form of voting in the U.S. is responsible for election fraud"). However, no evidence supports claims that mail-in voting is less secure than in-person voting.
Civil rights organizations and Democratic leaders swiftly condemned the order, vowing legal challenges. California Governor Gavin Newsom announced plans to sue the administration, while NAACP President Derrick Johnson declared, *Diese Anordnung wird keinen Bestand haben* ("This order will not stand").
The decree marks Trump’s latest effort to reshape voting procedures, though critics argue it could disproportionately restrict ballot access. Legal battles are expected as opponents prepare to contest the order in court.
