Germany, France, Great Britain and Ukraine have called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to agree to an immediate ceasefire and negotiations to end the war. The current front line in Ukraine is to serve as the starting point. The USA and Europe should be "actively" involved in the talks, according to a joint statement released by Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after their meeting in London.
Diplomatic initiative from London
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived in London for political talks. During a conversation on Sunday, the two politicians also coordinated their positions ahead of the upcoming G7 and NATO summits as well as meetings of the so-called Coalition of the Willing, Zelensky said on the X platform. Another topic was the protection of Ukraine's energy infrastructure and preparations for the coming winter.
