The US American Nicole Ann from Florida paid 44 euros for two takeaway gelatos including extras at an ice cream shop near Piazza Navona in Rome and made the incident public in a Facebook group for travelers to Italy.
Nicole Ann described the incident in a Facebook group for travelers to Italy. She explained that she and her partner had actually just wanted to quickly grab two gelatos with two scoops each to take away at the ice cream shop in the area around the popular Piazza Navona. Instead, the two were given a gelato with three scoops each, which cost twelve euros per portion according to the bill.
In addition, according to the tourist, a small macaron for three euros and a small cannolo – a kind of pastry roll from Sicily – for five euros per person were charged. For each of them that came to 22 euros – 44 euros in total. The US tourist paid the bill, as her account shows.
