VIENNA, April 30, 2026 Vienna hotel closed for prostitution and drug trafficking
Authorities in Vienna have closed a hotel in the Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus district and a business in the city center for operating without permits and involvement in illegal activities, including prostitution and drug trafficking.
Crackdown on Illegal Operations
The hotel, located in Vienna’s Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus district, was shut down after investigations revealed it lacked the necessary permits and was involved in illegal prostitution and drug trafficking. Simultaneously, a separate business in the city center was closed for violating operating hours and sales regulations, also without proper permits.
Walter Hillerer, head of the Sofortmaßnahmen group, emphasized that both establishments had repeatedly ignored regulations. In a statement, he said: *"Beide Betreiber haben über einen längeren Zeitraum Vorschriften ignoriert. Neben der Wiener Bevölkerung werden auch Touristen in Angebote gelockt, die dem Ruf unserer Stadt schaden."* ("Both operators have ignored regulations for an extended period. In addition to the Viennese population, tourists are also being lured into offers that damage the reputation of our city.")
