The Assembly of States Parties of the International Criminal Court has suspended Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan from duty with immediate effect after a UN investigation substantiated suspicions of sexual assault against him.

The Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, has been suspended from duty with immediate effect due to allegations of sexual assault. As the Assembly of States Parties of the court in The Hague announced, a special session is to take place as soon as possible to make a final decision on a possible removal from office. "Die Sondersitzung soll so schnell wie möglich stattfinden", it was said from The Hague.
