Berlin, 04 June 2026

The Minister Presidents Hendrik Wüst, Markus Söder and Governing Mayor Kai Wegner have spoken out in favor of a German Olympic bid in a joint Instagram video, while the regions are submitting their final concepts to the DOSB.

In the 22-second video, Wüst and Wegner say 'Yes to Olympia in Germany' and Söder says 'Yes to Olympia'. The accompanying text of the Instagram post reads: 'Three regions. Three voices. One clear answer: Yes, to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Germany!'. The three top politicians are thus positioning themselves shortly before the end of the digital deadline for submitting the bid concepts to the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB).

The final concepts of the regions must still be submitted digitally to the DOSB on the same day. On September 26, the DOSB intends to decide which region Germany will send internationally into the race for the Games in 2036, 2040 or 2044. The candidates include Berlin together with Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Brandenburg, as well as Munich and the Rhine-Ruhr region with the metropolis of Cologne.
