VIENNA, May 5, 2026
A 14-year-old boy has been sentenced to 16 months of partially conditional imprisonment for committing three armed robberies in Vienna’s Donaustadt district within three days.
The Crimes and Sentencing
The boy, who was taken into custody in mid-March due to concerns he might reoffend, used a spring knife to threaten his victims during the robberies. The crimes occurred just days after his 14th birthday, marking a swift descent into criminal activity. The court ordered him to undergo psychotherapy and imposed a three-year probation period.
One of the robberies involved the boy and his friends, all under the age of criminal responsibility, targeting people in the Donauzentrum area on January 30, 2026. During one incident, a 13-year-old accomplice punched a 15-year-old victim, who later received 350 euros in compensation. In a separate robbery at a bus stop near the Donauzentrum, the boy threatened another 15-year-old with the knife and stole 50 euros. His third robbery occurred on February 1, when he stole a 'Lacoste' hat from a younger boy while brandishing the weapon.
