FC Wacker Innsbruck have launched their campaign in the Austrian second division with a clear 5:0 home win over Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz. The Tyroleans were already leading 4:0 at the break thanks to goals from Kopp, Weinzierl, Sy and Joppich, before Kunze added another in the closing stages.

FC Wacker Innsbruck have returned to the Austrian second division with a convincing 5:0 (4:0) win over Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz and have made a clear statement on the opening matchday.
After just 45 minutes, the match at the Innsbruck stadium was practically decided. Florian Kopp (25th), Christopher Weinzierl (32nd), Mouhamed Sy (37th) and Alexander Joppich (44th) set the course for victory early on with their goals in a high-pressure first half.
After the turnaround, the home side initially managed their lead, but added another goal in the 72nd minute through Phil Kunze. The final scoreline of 5:0 underlined the superiority of the team that has returned to the second-highest tier of Austrian football.
Alongside Innsbruck's opening win, the other opening matchday fixtures also produced clear results. The Young Violets lost at home to Blau-Weiß Linz 0:3, with Ronivaldo (29th) and Vucic with a brace (71st, 89th) scoring the goals for the visitors.
FC Admira also suffered a home defeat on opening day. Against Rapid II, the Südstadt side lost 0:1, with Dezi scoring the goal for the visitors in the 29th minute.
The match in Kapfenberg also produced a clear result: the Styrians went down 0:4 to FC Liefering. Sulbaran (21st), Ivanschitz (28th), Yuri Leles (71st) and Werner (83st) found the net for the Salzburg side.
The only point picked up by an underdog was taken by promoted side Voitsberg in their home match against Amstetten. Schubert gave the Styrians the lead in the 36th minute from the penalty spot, before Amstettten were able to equalise in the second half.
With the biggest win of the opening weekend, Wacker Innsbruck have already strengthened their position in the second-division promotion race and at the same time sent a signal to the competition, which on the whole struggled on matchday one.
