Meanwhile, in parallel with the heat wave, other news stories persist: the Police have not yet been able to clarify the motives or identify the perpetrator of a shooting recorded in Cologne-Mülheim, and Weeze airport is operating normally, with weather conditions not affecting its activity.

At the European level, EU Interior Ministers are holding a video conference meeting this Tuesday to analyze the lessons learned from the recent incidents in Ceuta and to advance better protection of the external borders. The meeting comes amid harsh criticism received by Spanish migration policy, according to German press reports. In this context, the combination of extreme heat, storms, and open emergency operations paints a scenario of high demand for civil protection services.

For the coming days, weather models indicate a gradual drop in temperatures, although DWD experts urge caution given the risk of severe storms associated with the thermal contrast. Official recommendations include avoiding prolonged sun exposure during the middle hours of the day, staying continuously hydrated, and taking extreme care with outdoor activities, especially in bathing and mountain areas, where the risk of lightning and sudden flash floods increases as the afternoon progresses.
