German actor Axel Schreiber, known from the ARD series "Türkisch für Anfänger" (Turkish for Beginners), has died at the age of 49 following a battle with cancer.

Career and Education

The actor, born in Lübben, Brandenburg, succumbed to his cancer on Thursday at the age of 49, his acting agency Hübchen announced, citing a close friend of the deceased. The newspaper "Bild" had previously reported on the death.

Schreiber gained nationwide recognition starting in 2005 with the ARD comedy series "Türkisch für Anfänger." In the family series, produced by BBC subsidiary Tiger Aspect, he played one of the main roles for several seasons alongside Adnil Cetin, Josefine Preuß, and Elyas M'Barek.
