A 49-year-old woman has been arrested in the Japanese city of Koga near Tokyo on suspicion of injuring her 42-year-old roommate after a dispute and sewing her mouth shut.
The arrest was for assault, according to Japanese public broadcaster NHK and news agency AFP. According to a police spokesperson who spoke to AFP, the incident occurred on Thursday in a shared apartment occupied by the two women.
According to the investigation, the 42-year-old victim fled the apartment to a nearby store. There, she held up a note reading "Hilfe!" and drew attention to her predicament, the spokesperson said on Thursday.
Escape and call for help
The victim sustained injuries to the area around her mouth, which required medical treatment. Authorities initially provided no further details regarding the woman's exact condition or possible additional injuries.
