The ChatGPT rival Anthropic submitted a confidential application for an initial public offering (IPO) in the United States to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Monday.

The company, which develops the chatbot Claude, announced the filing itself but did not disclose the volume or exact terms of the planned Initial Public Offering (IPO). "The number of shares to be offered and the price have not yet been determined," Anthropic stated.

According to US media reports, the IPO could take place as early as the fall. Anthropic itself explained that the application gives the company the option to go public after the SEC review is completed. "The planned IPO depends on market conditions and other factors," the company said in a statement.
