US actress Anne Schedeen, who played mother Kate Tanner in the sitcom "ALF," has died at the age of 77.

Anne Schedeen, born Luanne Ruth Schedeen on January 8, 1949, in Portland, Oregon, died peacefully according to her family. Her long-time agent confirmed the death at the request of the German Press Agency (dpa). The family had previously posted an obituary on Schedeen's official Facebook page and shared a photo of the deceased with the famous ALF puppet. A cause of death was not given.
Schedeen became known primarily for the role of Kate Tanner in the sitcom "ALF," which aired from 1986 to 1990 on the US network NBC and was broadcast in 102 episodes. In the series, the Tanner family takes in the alien ALF – the name stands for "Alien Life Form" – after his spaceship accidentally crashed into their garage. ALF, a shaggy creature from the planet Melmac, causes chaos in the Tanner household with his escapades and his favorite food, the family cat Lucky.
