The US company Anthropic has announced that, from now on, it will mark texts produced by its chatbot Claude with an invisible watermark in order to meet the requirements of the European Union regarding the handling of artificial intelligence.

The regulation follows the EU's recent decisions to make the use of AI more transparent. Brussels requires providers to clearly label machine-generated content. According to Anthropic, the watermark is intended to ensure that Claude texts remain identifiable when they circulate.

"The US company Anthropic has announced that it will mark texts from its chatbot Claude with an invisible watermark in order to comply with EU requirements for dealing with artificial intelligence (AI)," the report states. According to experts, the method relies on statistical patterns in word choice that are invisible to human readers but can be read by corresponding verification programs.
