Match overview and goals
Arsenal took control early on. The side led by captain Martin Ödegaard played with confidence on the ball and allowed City very few chances. The opening goal came from a well-worked combination that the Italian Riccardo Calafiori finished off inside the box. The full-back, who had only recently moved from Juventus to the Thames, scored his first competitive goal in a Gunners shirt.
