London, July 27, 2026
The British pharmaceutical group AstraZeneca exceeded analysts' expectations with its second-quarter 2026 results released on Monday in London, driven by strong demand for cancer and rare disease medicines.
Quarterly figures above market expectations
Last year, the group recorded revenue and profit growth of around 8 and 11 percent respectively. The trend continued unbroken in the second quarter of 2026: currency-adjusted revenues rose by 5 percent to 15.38 billion US dollars, with total revenue growing by 6 percent to approximately 15.4 billion dollars.
Strong demand for cancer and rare disease medicines gave AstraZeneca an unexpected profit increase in the second quarter. Adjusted earnings per share climbed 18 percent to 2.63 dollars (2.31 euros), exceeding the average analyst expectation of 2.48 dollars. Analysts had on average expected 2.48 dollars, the company said.
