Bergamo, 16 June 2026

Italian football club Atalanta Bergamo on 15 June 2026 introduced Maurizio Sarri as the new head coach of the first team, taking over from the dismissed Raffaele Palladino.

Atalanta Bergamo announced the appointment of Maurizio Sarri as its new head coach on 15 June 2026. The 67-year-old succeeds Raffaele Palladino, who had to leave the club following a disappointing season after winning the 2024 Europa League. Palladino could not be retained after 39 matches in charge with an average of 1.59 points per game.

Sarri moves to the Lombardy side on a contract running until 30 June 2029. For the experienced Italian football coach, it is the 16th stop in a professional coaching career spanning more than 800 matches. Atalanta justified the appointment by pointing to the new coach's illustrious career and his track record of success.
