At an auction in Paris, personal items belonging to the actress Brigitte Bardot are being sold, including her characteristic ballet shoes and a copy of the Kama Sutra.

The auction is taking place in the French capital and is being staged by the auction house Alexandre Millon. According to the house, a total of some 300 objects from Bardot's personal possession are coming up for sale, including furniture, garments and memorabilia spanning several decades.

Among the lots are also Repetto ballet shoes that Bardot wore over the years and that became a recognisable element of her personal style. The shoes are regarded as a trademark of the actress, who became world-famous in the 1950s and 1960s through appearances in films such as Jean-Luc Godard's "Le Mépris" ("Contempt").
