Austria's 3x3 basketball team was eliminated from the FIBA World Championship on Saturday after losing 19:21 to Germany in a closely contested quarterfinal decided in the final seconds.

The Austrian team, made up of Toni Blazan, Quincy Diggs, Nico Kaltenbrunner and Fabio Söhnel, started the match poorly and quickly trailed 1:4 before working their way back into the game. Blazan, who finished with three of his five two-point attempts, was central to Austria's recovery, and the team tied the contest at 10:10 before Blazan hit two consecutive two-pointers to push Austria ahead 14:10.

Austria kept the lead through the middle stages, and with 6:47 minutes played held a 10:8 advantage in what officials described as an intense, physically demanding contest. The structure of 3x3 basketball, in which the first team to reach 21 points wins, kept the pressure high in the closing possessions as the margin narrowed.
