Vienna, Austria — April 20, 2026

Austrian tennis players have experienced a mix of setbacks and progress in the latest WTA and ATP rankings, with only two women remaining in the top 100 and several others vying to break into the elite tier.

Austrian Women’s Rankings Decline

The number of Austrian women in the WTA top 100 has dwindled to just two, with Anastasia Potapova leading the charge as the highest-ranked Austrian at No. 56. Potapova, a finalist at this year’s Linz Open, remains the top representative for Austria in the women’s game. Meanwhile, Julia Grabher has slipped eight spots to No. 107, while Sinja Kraus has moved up to No. 104, edging closer to re-entering the top 100.

The decline in Austrian representation highlights the challenges faced by the country’s players in maintaining consistency on the tour. Grabher’s recent drop comes after a series of early exits, while Kraus’s upward movement suggests a potential resurgence. Both players will need strong performances in upcoming tournaments to secure their places among the world’s best.

Upcoming Tournaments and Opportunities

Lilli Tagger, who took a break this week, is set to return to action at the WTA 125 Challenger in Saint-Malo, France, next week. Following that, she will compete in the qualifying rounds of the WTA 1000 event in Rome. Tagger, a quarterfinalist in Linz earlier this year, is looking to build momentum as the clay-court season progresses.
