Bosch plans extensive job cuts at its Nuremberg site on Zweibrückener Straße, affecting more than 900 employees according to the works council.
Background: Pressure in the automotive industry
The automotive supplier Bosch is announcing massive job cuts at its Nuremberg site. As Arne Brandsch, the works council chairman of the site, explained, significantly more people are affected by the measure than the officially stated figure of 900 positions. This figure refers to so-called "full-time equivalents," meaning full-time jobs. Part-time employees and other forms of employment are not fully captured in it, so the actual number of affected employees is higher.
The announcement comes against the backdrop of a difficult economic situation in the automotive industry. In its own words, Bosch is responding to changed market conditions and ongoing price and cost pressure that the company is also feeling in Bavaria. Which specific business areas at the Zweibrückener Straße site are particularly affected initially remained unclear.
