East Rutherford, June 14, 2026
Brazil and Morocco drew 1-1 in their opening Group C match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in East Rutherford, with Vinícius Júnior canceling out the deficit created by Ismael Saibari.
The Selecao, managed by coach Carlo Ancelotti, started the match nervously. In front of 80,663 spectators, Brazil came under heavy pressure early on as Morocco moved the ball and ran at the opposition. The Selecao, however, produced the biggest chance of the opening fifteen minutes: following a Vinícius cross, Thiago Silva found himself completely unmarked at the goalmouth for a header but failed to make proper contact with the ball (14').
